palamanga is a name given to the first born child in the Gualmancema language from the Eastern region of Burkina Faso, West Africa. The family is happy at the birth. A photo is a first born in its own right. When the shutter clicks, a moment in time is captured, and only in that moment can that image exist. Thus, the image is a first born to that moment in time and to the witnesses of this moment.
